Welcome to John's little corner of this site. Here you'll find my Sheppard fic's. Be warned, I love to whump on my favorite characters, so most of the fic's here will have poor John hurting in one way or another. Yes, I do know I'm evil. Thanks!

   I started watching SGA when the series first aired and immediately fell in love with it. Especially one Major John Sheppard. In a lot of ways, he reminds me of Jack O'Neill. The only two real, big differences that I see between them is that Jack's background is much darker and tragic than John's which makes him a darker character. The second difference is that, while neither man makes there true intelligence known, Jack goes a lot further to hide his. He likes to intentionally play dumb and make people think he is much, much loess intelligent than he actually is. John, on the other, doesn't really try to hide his intelligence; he just doesn't advertise it.

   Like my other favorite characters on this site, I love that he has flaws. He can be stubborn at times; especially if he truly believes that what he's doing is right. He is also loyal to a fault and fault and tends to put everyone else's safety and well being before his own. Which, I suppose isn't necessarily a fault. He also tends to repress his emotions too much.

   Sheppard is one of the most open-minded military characters (probably second only to Carter) that I have seen in the Stargate Universe. The first thing that drew me to him, and has continued to do so through out the series (other than the fact that he is HOT), is his steadfast belief in Teyla. Right from the beginning he was very honest with her and showed her a great deal of respect and a willingness to trust her. In my opinion, he is the only reason that the Athosians are their allies. Let's face it, his more friendly, open manner is what won over Teyla, and her people through her. If not for John, Colonel Sumner's 'bull in a china shop' method would have only turned her against the people of the Atlantis Expedition. John was the only one against trespassing on what the Athosians considered to be sacred ground. It is only through Teyla's contacts that the expedition was able to make allies with many of the native peoples of the Pegasus Galaxy and to establish trade agreements with them.

   He has showed his intense loyalty on many occasions. One of them being his opposition to Elizabeth's decision to restrict the Athosians' movement within Atlantis in the season 1 episode, Suspicions. Another example of that loyalty is his unwillingness to give up on Lt. Ford. There's also his determination to, somehow, find Elizabeth and bring her home after having to abandon her on the Replicator home world. He showed it yet again late in the fourth season when he refused to give up on finding Teyla, and then in the first episode of season 5 when he put his own health on the back burner to be a part of the rescue mission to save her once she'd been found. And those are just a few of the examples I could mention.

   As I said before, he is fiercely loyal. The safety of not just his own team, but every member of the expedition comes first to him. He takes it hard and personally when anyone is injured or killed. Even if he was off world at the time and there was nothing he could do about it, he feels guilty when anything happens to any of them.

   Sheppard's loyalty and courage never waivers. Not even in the face of the fiercest opposition or hardship. He is always willing to put his own life on the line to save a friend. He's done it several times to save an individual, his team, and the entire expedition. A few of those times, the method used was his idea, which also proves his intelligence.

   When he does make a mistake, he takes full responsibility for his actions. He is also not afraid to admit when he's made a mistake. He is willing to concede that he may have been wrong after the fact, even if he still doesn't believe his action(s) were a mistake based on the information that he had at the time.

   And hey, how can you not love a guy who likes Ferris wheels? Oh, and did I mention that he is HOT!!! Definitely warrents a thud warning, so . . . here it is!
